During the love-bombing phase—or when they’re trying to “suck you back in” after a discard—they’ll look at you with tears in their eyes and say, “You’re my soulmate. I have never loved anyone like I love you. I’m going to change. We’re going to buy a house, go on a vacation, have kids together, and be forever forever.”

You may want to believe this so badly. You want to believe the nightmare is finally over. But to save your life, you must believe the opposite.

When a toxic person promises you a beautiful future, they’re not planning a life with you. Heck, they’re throwing a net over you.

Future-faking is a manipulation tactic we all know. It’s designed to keep you trapped in the past and confused in the present.

When they say, “I’m going to change,” the absolute truth is that they’re never going to change—and they have no intention of even trying.

When they tell you that you’re their soulmate, they don’t mean they cherish your soul. They mean they found the perfect host to drain for the next few years.

The opposite of their fairy-tale promise is a reality of endless exploitation.

The quickest way to know what a narcissist thinks of you is to stop listening to the literal definition of their words. You have to understand that their mouth is a weapon, not a tool for connection.
