By the time you reach the fourth stage, the combination of your unpredictability, the false information, and your reverse gaslighting has completely erected the narcissist’s sense of control. Their confidence is shaken, and they’re deeply confused about who you are.
And that is the exact moment you pull the ultimate plug on their system by entering a state of absolute indifference.
This goes much deeper than just pretending to be a boring grey rock. This is the stage where your physical body and your nervous system actually stop caring about what they do. Their punishments become completely useless. If they try to give you the silent treatment for days to punish you and make you suffer, it completely fails.
You do not beg them to talk to you. Instead, you enjoy the quiet house, focus on your hobbies, and treat their cold shoulder like a peaceful vacation. Their tantrums lose all their power. If they try to scream, throw things, or create massive chaos to get a reaction, you look at them with a black, unbothered face. It is like watching a television show on mute.
To a narcissist, your total lack of care feels like a complete system blackout. They feed entirely on emotional movement. Whether it is your love, anger, or anything else, they need your attention to feel like they exist. When you look at them with total indifference, you become a mirror. That shows them their own emptiness.
The ego completely starves, and their entire drive to manipulate you shuts down because they realize they have zero impact on your life.
The fifth stage: you walk off their chessboard permanently.
