Very quickly, they’ll start creating sudden manufactured emergencies. Their car will break down out of nowhere. They’ll unexpectedly lose their job. They’ll find a magical business idea that needs your cash right now.
If you hesitate to hand over your money, they’ll twist it and call you selfish, cold, and unsupportive.
You need to dry up the watering hole before they can take a drink.
Tell them you’re completely broke and have absolutely no financial resources or assets—then wash it. Create a consistent story that your money is entirely locked down where nobody can touch it.
Tell them that every single spare dollar you make goes straight to old family obligations, long-term investments, or heavy debts. Act like you’re living dollar to dollar with zero extra capital.
When they look at your life, they should see a dry desert—with no water to drink.
A parasite cannot live on an empty host. The moment a narcissist truly believes you’re a dead end for cash and material resources, their motivation to exploit you completely dies. They will stop trying to drain you because you’ve made yourself totally useless to their greed.
Lie number four: Tell them you have a zero-tolerance policy for mind games and that you completely shut down at the first sign of drama.
Narcissists love emotional circus acts. They use a tactic where they throw everything at you at once to make you dizzy.
You know they’ll bring up a list of tiny mistakes you made three years ago just to confuse you during a simple argument today. They want you crying, screaming, and desperately defending your character while they sit back and watch.
Why do they do this? Because your emotional pain is premium fuel for their engine. It makes them feel powerful and in control.
If you show them that their drama gives you anxiety or keeps you awake at night, you’re confirming that their weapons work perfectly.
