20 strange narcissist behaviors you shoud know

Number fourteen. They use mysterious third party opinions to back up their arguments… “everyone thinks I’m right,” “so-and-so from the office even thinks so”… people who conveniently can’t be reached to confirm or deny it.

Number fifteen. They ruin things you enjoy, because it takes the attention off them, even briefly, even when it costs them nothing to just let you have it.

Number sixteen. They fish for compliments by insulting themselves, just to make sure you reassure them on command, on a schedule only they know.

Number seventeen. They fake rivalries between you and others, to keep you on edge, unsure who to trust, and a little more dependent on them.

Number eighteen. They show sudden bursts of affection, just enough to reel you back in… also known as breadcrumbing… right when you were starting to pull away.

Number nineteen. They disappear during emergencies, only to reappear when it’s convenient for them, as if nothing happened, and act confused that you’re upset about it.

And number twenty. They exaggerate tiny accomplishments, like they just won a Nobel Prize for something completely ordinary that most people wouldn’t even mention.

If these behaviors sound familiar, remember… it’s not about isolated moments. Everyone has a bad day, a short temper, an off week. It’s about recognizing patterns. A bad day looks like one or two of these. A pattern looks like most of this list, showing up over and over, on repeat, in situation after situation, with barely any variation.

That repetition is the real tell. A narcissist’s version of an apology, a compliment, or an act of kindness tends to follow the exact same shape every time, because it’s serving the same function every time… managing how you see them, not actually connecting with you.

So the sooner you recognize them, the sooner you can stop explaining them away, and start taking back your peace.
