First, it shows up when he is with his male friends. Have you noticed how his entire personality flips the exact second his buddies walk into the room? He suddenly becomes the happiest, funniest, most enthusiastic, most alive version of himself. He turns into the life of the party—bright, energetic, warm, and charming.
But if you sit quietly in the background and listen closely to the conversations, you’ll hear the venom. His talk is filled with nasty jokes about wives, women, marriage, and commitment. He treats his male friends like his emotional soulmates, offering his best smiles, deepest loyalty, and highest respect.
Then everything changes when he steps back over your doorstep and his friends leave. The brightness shatters. He walks into the house and turns cold and distant. He becomes silent, stares at his phone, hides away playing games, or locks himself in the bathroom to avoid looking at you. This massive contrast is a slap in the face: he’s showing you that he can perform warmth and respect for men, but he despises your presence because he views a woman as an annoying household chore he is forced to tolerate.
Second, it becomes blindingly clear inside a hospital room. A man’s deep hatred is put on full display when you’re pregnant, sick, in excruciating physical pain, giving birth, recovering postpartum, or facing a terrifying medical emergency. This is the moment when a normal loving partner would wrap you in safety and provide support.
But to a misogynistic man, your physical suffering is nothing more than an inconvenience to his schedule. Instead of showing empathy, he checks out emotionally—staring at his phone—or twists the situation so he becomes the victim. He sighs heavily, complains about the hospital chairs, and acts as though simply showing up is a heroic sacrifice you should be grateful for.
