The shift back to the monster is so fast that it will give you whiplash. They will look at you with old, cold, dead eyes. All the gratitude they faked will evaporate into thin air. And the scariest part is they will punish you severely for ever seeing them in a weak state. They will attack you for every bit of help you ever gave them.
They will rewrite history and tell you that they never actually needed you—that you forced your help on them—or that you were the reason they failed in the first place. They will discard you without a single ounce of mercy, leaving you completely exhausted, broke, and older—wondering how you wasted decades of your life nursing a predator back to health.
Do not make the foolish mistake of thinking that a downfall cures a toxic mind. A shattered mirror does not turn into a window just because it fell off the wall. It just becomes a pile of jagged glass hiding on the floor, waiting to cut whoever tries to clean it up.
When a narcissist’s lies crash their grief into just a strategic retreat, it is a calculated mutation. They do not want to be saved. They just want a warm place to hide until their fans grow back.
When you see their empire fall, do not walk toward the wreckage with an open heart. Turn around, keep your walls up, and walk away forever.
