Going out with a narcissist feels like being dragged to a performance you never wanted to see, with tickets you’d rather not have bought. Even though you’re in a crowded place, you can’t help but watch them as they soak up the attention they crave. Their ability to strike up conversations effortlessly makes them the center of attention, and you can’t help but wonder how this person could be problematic.

But you know better—while you might initially enjoy how hypnotizing they are in public, being alone with them reveals a totally different side that can be quite unsettling.
