A person with a strong sense of self—a self-concept grounded in inner knowing and self-worth—is like a garlic necklace to these vampiric beings; they despise such individuals. Narcissists like to create new personalities for their victims, instilling chronic doubt so that the victim questions their beliefs and motives.
However, if you know who you are and believe in yourself, the narcissist feels defeated; they lose control and are left with no games to play. Interestingly, some malignant narcissists are drawn to people with strong self-identity, aiming to bring them down, as these individuals often possess a strong moral compass, believing in goodwill and second chances. However, if they become aware of the narcissistic dynamics at play, they can turn that knowledge into a superpower, making them less vulnerable to manipulation.
Fear Number Four: Knowing How Much They Hate Themselves
Narcissists tremble when they know you understand how much they hate themselves. A narcissist is all about projection, transferring their insecurities and shame onto you and making it your reality. Unfortunately, many fall for this due to their masterful manipulation.
If you recognize that their behavior stems from their self-hatred, you won’t take it personally. Without personal impact, they lose all power over you. Digging in with strong, unbreakable boundaries allows you to stand firm without justification or defensiveness. Without your reactions, they cannot extract the emotional fuel they need to survive, which reveals their ultimate failure.
